Building a Robot Operating System for the Future

Building a Robot Operating System for the Future

Donations and Robotics

Earlier, today May 9th, 2020, I was walking towards a local super market to buy some groceries.

An unknown to me pedestrian noticed my clothes, which reflect my state of homelessness, and without asking him, he kindly offered me eleven euros as a donation.

For the past few months, my robotics projects had been stopped due to my single-board computer Raspberry Pi 3 b+ not yet being compatible with the ROS, which is the standard, open-source operating system for robotic applications.

Luckily and recently, a couple of, a version of the Ubuntu (version: MATE 18.04.2) computer operating system and a version of the ROS (version: Melodic) robotic operation system, was prepared exclusively for the Raspberry Pi 3 b+.

However, for installing this software in my Raspberry, I needed an extra 32 GB electronic memory-card, worth eight euros, which I didn’t had and which I didn’t afforded to buy.

The kindness of the anonymous donor offered me the chance to buy at once the memory-card that I needed and now I have already started the procedure of installing the above software in my computer.

By the way, I inform the Raspberry Pi owners, who are interested in developing robotics application that, from now on they can use ROS at their robots.
