Historian Peter Winn has argued that the role of the CIA was crucial to the consolidation of power that followed the coup; the CIA helped fabricate a conspiracy against the Allende government, which Pinochet was then portrayed as preventing. He states that the coup itself was possible only through a three-year covert operation mounted by the United States. He also points out that the US imposed an "invisible blockade" that was designed to disrupt the economy under Allende, and contributed to the destabilization of the regime. Peter Kornbluh, director of the National Security Archive's Chile Documentation Project, argues in his book The Pinochet File that the US was extensively involved and actively "fomented" the 1973 coup. Authors Tim Weiner, in his book, Legacy of Ashes, and Christopher Hitchens, in his book, The Trial of Henry Kissinger similarly argue the case that US covert actions actively destabilized Allende’s government and set the stage for the 1973 coup. Joaquin Fermandois criticized Kornbluh's "black and white" and "North American centered conception of world affairs", stating that a variety of internal and external factors also played a role and that a careful reading of the documentary record reveals the CIA was largely "impotent".
Conservative scholar Mark Falcoff alleged that Cuba and the Soviet Union supplied several hundred thousand dollars to the socialist and Marxist factions in the government. Peter Winn noted that "the Chilean revolution always kept to its peaceful road, despite counterrevolutionary plots and violence." Moreover, this strong emphasis on nonviolence was precisely to avoid revolutionary terror which had blemished the reputations of the French, Russian and Cuban revolutions.

Declassified State Department records show that the month before Letelier’s murder, Kissinger had ordered US ambassadors posted to the six Condor countries to express Washington’s “deep concern” at the possible assassination of “politicians and prominent figures” in South America and beyond.
The ambassadors, fearful to raise the topic with their hosts, demurred, suggesting that it would be safer to approach the South American ambassadors posted in Washington instead.
But Kissinger rescinded the order on 16 September, just five days before Letelier’s murder, instructing that “no further action should be taken on this matter”.

For example, Peter Kornbluh’s The Pinochet File, now in its second printing (2013), combines a narrative of Yankee shenanigans with fascimiles of declassified US government documents relating to Chile. Amongst those are Richard Nixon’s hand-written instruction to the CIA to “make the [Chilean] economy scream“; or Henry Kissinger’s infamous National Security Memorandum 93, calling for economic and financial measures against Chile. The steps outlined in that memo bear close resemblance to what the United States actually did. Such documents are essentially regarded as prima facie evidence for the efficacy of the ‘invisible blockade’.

David Voigts, whose Control Systems Engineering background in the Navy included work in Electronic Warfare and Nuclear Billets, says the people known nationally and internationally as “Targeted Individuals” are non-consensual victims of an illegal human experimentation project in human-computer interfaces “to conduct various psychological and physical experiments with the use of electronic warfare weapons that essentially torture the victim psychologically and physically.”

Poverty in the United States
The official poverty measure is published by the United States Census Bureau and shows that:
In 2014, there were 46.7 million people in poverty. This is up from 37.3 million in 2007. The number of poor people is near the largest number in the 52 years for which poverty statistics have been published (DeNavas-Walt 2015, p. 12—also see table there).
The 2014 poverty rate was 14.8 percent, down only slightly from the 2010 poverty rate of 15.1 percent and still up from 12.5 percent in 1997, although the recession has ended officially (DeNavas-Walt 2015, p. 12). (The poverty rate was at 22.4 percent in 1959, the first year for poverty estimates.)
The 2014 poverty rate for Blacks was 26.2 percent, for Hispanics 23.6 percent, for Asians 12 percent and for non-Hispanic whites 10.1 percent (DeNavas-Walt 2015, p. 12-4).
The poverty rate for children under 18 was 21.1 percent in 2014 and the number of children in poverty was 15.5 million. Children represented 23.3 percent of the total population and 33.3 percent of people in poverty (DeNavas-Walt 2015, p. 15).
19.9 million Americans live in extreme poverty. This means their family’s cash income is less than half of the poverty line, or about $10,000 a year for a family of four. They represented 6.6 percent of all people and 44.6 percent of those in poverty(DeNavas-Walt 2015, p. 17).

As an ordinary Greek (and quasi German) citizen I address the following appeal to the International Community:
The persistence along with the severity of the alleged Greece's crisis dictate that the International Community should intervene, with no delay, in order to support the populations of, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, the Russian Federation, the Israel and the Turkey.
The populations of those, having extended colonial history, States are being threatened to collect the impositive consequences of their corresponding governments' present colonial, impositive choices.
History teaches us that violations of the international law and violations of the Human Rights, on behalf of colonial Nations, undoubtfully, cause corresponding, moral and economic, degadance.
For example, the present economic and moral condition of the U.S.A. is undoubtfully causally interconnected with both, the impositive role which, the U.S. played during 1973, at the murder of Chile's former president Salvador Allende and the dictatorship which followed, as well as, the absence of effective and sufficient reaction on behalf of the, then, International Community.
Today, the role of the 1973 Chile is being enforced upon Greece:

- Greece is one of the most reach european Nations, as she has probably, the reachest, mineral and others, economic resources.
- Greece's economic resources have gradually fallen, during the last sixty years, by the employment of, dishonest and/or unlawfull, methods to foreign interested parties
- The magority of Greece's population is Greek indigenous citizen which lack proportional political representation and whose Human Rights are being systematically violated.
- The colonial States exercise colonial influence upon Greece beyond the limits allowed by the international law.
- Greece's natural leadership has been decimated and hers residual struggles to physicaly survive both, inland, as well as, abroad.
- All the countries, with no exeption, are, currently, collecting the consequences (which are, according to my opinion, absurdly named, "globalization", "new world order", etc) of the collonialists' struggling to artificially erase the evolutionary dynamics of their own previous missdeeds, in terms, of collective (in)security, of collective (un)freedom, of bilateral (non-)cooperation and of collective (un)prosperity.

My appeal to the International Community is, to immediately initiate a proper and effective reaction in order for preventing the manifestation of the route causes of colonialists Nations' future further, moral and economic, degadance.
The negative impact of one Nation's degadance to all the others, is unavoidable, while, the positive impact of another Nation's prosperity to the rest of them, is highly probable.
As our human kind, probably, "walks" through the edges of an undeclared third world war, let us all hope that the International Community, this time, shall make the right decision.
